Jack Chen

Hello, I am Yi Xiang Chen, a senior student of Foreign Languages Department of Chung Cheng University. I have a strong interest and enthusiasm for foreign languages and interpersonal relationships. Since I was young, I have hoped to build connection with people from all over the world and let them see my hometown and make them fall for it.

 

For this, I joined the Department of Foreign Languages. During my college days, I earnestly sharpened my abilities in terms of listening, speaking, reading, and writing in foreign languages in order to excel at my professional field. I had gained recognition from professors in terms of interpretation, writing, translation, and essay composition. Also, I am keen on the literature courses in the department. Enormous text reading not only allows me to develop a sharp sense of language, but also greatly increases my dictionary, allowing me to narrate in various ways.

 

In addition to studying seriously at college courses, I also arrange schedule forcing myself to study in free time, so that I can study further and learn even better. And I usually use Internet resources when I study further, and through that I have overcome the previous strange accent and have made great progress in listening.

 

At the same time, I also attend interdisciplinary learning, where I studied economics and accounting. During the process, I have been exposed to a lot of original texts and learned a variety of proper nouns and theories, which I can cope with many occasions. In order to improve interpersonal relationships, I have been actively participating in department activities since my freshman year. When volunteers are needed for any activity, I am always the first to answer the call.

 

Therefore, I was almost in every activity held by my department, including cheerleading competitions, foreign language winter camps, and orientation activities. These events provide me with the opportunity to contact a large number of people, from which I strengthen my communication skills, cooperation ability and endurance of difficulties. Each of these experiences has brought me frustration and growth, and also allowed me to make good use of what I have learned in the future and become more comfortable in the face of challenges.
